The Museum houses the business archive of Cable & Wireless. A business with roots dating back to 1870 and the laying of the first underwater cable out of Porthcurno. The Museum’s enviable archive includes thousands of unique records from Porthcurno’s lasting communication legacy.

If you would like to discover more, visit our public search room and study the archive records with the support of our collections team. The search room is free to enter, but it must be pre-booked a minimum of two weeks before your visit, please contact the collections team to discuss further:

Search room charges

Visiting the Search Room is free. Booking is essential. Please ensure that you book at least two weeks in advance of your trip. The search room is open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 10:00am – 4:30pm.

Other associated costs:

  • Use of own digital camera £6.00 per half day, £10.00 full day
  • Scanning and emailing copies of archive records £5.00 per page
  • Research undertaken on your behalf £30.00 per hour
  • Family name search of archive records: FREE
