There are a range of objects and documents that help to form a picture of the lives of telegraph workers and their families. Diaries and letters contain a wealth of information regarding their day to day lives, such as the diaries written by George Spratt. He was the Assistant Superintendent at the Porthcurno Telegraph Station and kept a detailed diary from 1878 to 1885 in which he noted down daily occurrences and events in the valley. Objects include sport trophies, glassware, cutlery, furniture, medals, and clothing, including cricket caps and a chauffeur’s uniform. These items all help to bring their stories to life.
