Planning Your Visit

Opening times. The museum is open for school and group visits from Monday to Friday all year round during term time.  Full day visits usually start at 10am and finish at 2pm, but we can be flexible. Half day visits (2 hours) usually start around 10am or 2pm.

Prices. The charges for formal educational groups of children and young people aged 18 and under are £6 per pupil with supervisory adults free. FE and HE groups are charged at the museum’s student rate.

Payment. We can invoice you after your visit. You may pay by card, but please let us know in advance during winter as we will need to make special arrangements. Cheques payable to ‘The PK Trust’.

Health and safety. All workshops, buildings, exhibits and activities within the museum have been fully risk assessed: Telegraph Museum Porthcurno School Visit Risk Assessment.

Supervision and behaviour. Teachers and group leaders are responsible for the supervision and behaviour of the children and young people in their group whilst at the museum and must remain with the group at all times.

Appropriate adult to pupil ratios as advised by Cornwall Council are:

Years 1 – 3: 1 adult to 6 children

Years 4 – 6: 1 adult to 10 children

Year 7 and above: 1 adult to 15 children

Mobile phone reception. The only mobile phone reception at the museum or in the valley is with Vodafone. There is free WiFi available in the Clore Learning Space and museum cafe.
