The Telegraph Museum Porthcurno are delighted to showcase the winners of our recent community photography competition. The winning entries will now feature in a special community exhibition in a new gallery within our unique World War Two Tunnels.
Cornwall residents showed their creative response to the valley at Porthcurno and the changes that have taken place within the landscape since the telegraph station began in the late 1800’s. There were four different categories – black and white, colour, abstract and scene recreation.
The winners are:
Sophia Milligan (Black and White)
Simon Devetta (Colour)
Lailani Atkinson (Abstract)
Graham Day (Scene Recreation)
We also have a special mention to our member of staff Alice Soulsby, who was the winner of our Staff, Volunteer, Friends and Family category – we’ve featured her image as the main picture for this article!
The winner of each category won:
* An Adventure Pro HD 1080p Action Sports Cam
* A mounted section of genuine telegraph cable retrieved from the sea bed off Porthcurno, with certificate of authenticity
* A copy of the award winning booklet “Changing Places – Porthcurno & the roots of modern communication” (winner of Best Booklet at the Holyer an Gof 2017 Publishers’ Awards)
* Free meal for two at the museum café (max value £30)
