We’re taking part in Heritage Open Days – the country’s largest heritage festival celebrating local history.
On the 10th September, our Archive will be opening its doors for free. Enjoy a special behind-the-scenes tour and discover some of Porthcurno’s archive secrets.
Join the Collections Team for a rare glimpse behind the scenes of the Archive. Led by our Collections Manager, Charlotte Todd, we will be providing tours of the Archive, as well as the chance to chat to our new Digitisation Officer and discover more regarding our three year project to digitise our 10,000 photographs. Come and view some of the photographs for yourselves, spanning over 120 years of telegraph history.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to view original photographs within the Archive Search Room, including personal photographs albums belonging to staff members of the Eastern Telegraph Company.
Also on offer will be information about the Archive copy and research services, such as our free name search of staff records for telegraph company employees. The Collection Team will also be on hand to provide advice on how to look after your own personal family archive collections.
Archive Tours timings will be as follows: 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30
Tour and entry to the archive is free; admission applies to museum exhibitions
