February half-term: Make Do & Mend Workshop

Porthcurno, 1870. The most connected place on the planet. Fast-forward to 2016, and discover where the roots of modern communication began.

Connect the dots. Discover how the pioneers of global communication lived and worked. Find out how they brought people closer together and made long distance messaging possible.  Be transported to another time and place through our interactive exhibits, immersive displays and live talks.

Press Morse code keys. Listen to the sounds of dot dash dotting. Venture underground in World War Two tunnels. Travel back in time to discover what the future of communications looked like a hundred years ago.

We offer free activities that will capture the imaginations of children of all ages. During February half-term week (13th – 21st February) we will be open daily 11:00 – 16:30.

World War Two Workshop

What was life like for wartime evacuees in 1945? Leap back to 1945, and see the world through the eyes of an evacuee. Imagine how different life was. On Monday 15th February join us for a Make Do & Mend workshop– 11am – 3pm (drop-in).

Get frugal and learn ‘rag rugging’ with our resident cable stitchers. This family-friendly drop in workshop will be taking inspiration from a wartime initiative.  Pop along, get creative, and find new ways to make use of old clothes.

Free with Museum admission and to local pass holders. Suitable for 5+ children with parental support.
